It may sound manipulative to some but it is not… you are still getting him or her back by being you… only a better and an overhauled you. You must asses his or her compliments and complaints of you. It’s not a matter of simply following everything they say. This will seem pathetic and it will be even more boring to them because they know you just adored them like a puppy. The idea is to deliver your return with vigor and a “take charge” attitude. Use what you know from the past. Show them that the supposed “flaws” you once posses are simply traits that others find irresistible (hey, we have to be OBJECTIVE here). And show him or her that the supposedly “characteristics” you have are ones they can’t live without.

Timing and method is everything once you have developed this new and improved you. Make sure to find a way to flaunt it in 2 areas: with your friends and with your ex’s friends. But flaunt it as natural as if effortless or else you will simply look really desperate. You don’t want that to happen. Once you have her or his attention again, try to keep as much mystery as you can without waiting too long. Or else you are back to square one. If all is delivered right, your ex will be back in your arms.
