Don’t resort to stalking and harassment: These two are actually pretty similar to each other and neither of them is going to make your ex want to come back to you. Instead, let your ex have some space for a bit. Don’t call them several times every hour, leave messages on voice mail, text them constantly, or visit them at work. You might want to talk and get answers, but you’ve got to wait it out. When your ex is ready to talk with you, they’ll let you know. Respect their wishes. You can actually be arrested for stalking.

Put away your jealousy: Don’t start dating someone just to get revenge on your ex. That person you’re dating is a human being and you’re using them as a means to an end. Your ex isn’t going to hear about you dating someone new and miraculously realize that they want you back. That’s just not going to happen. It only happens in the movies, on TV shows and in books; not in real life.

Don’t give up: Of course, you’ll never get your ex back if you just give up. You have to understand that it’s going to take some work and being committed to your cause. It’s not going to happen overnight. In fact, it may even take months for your ex to realize that you’re the one they love. So if you go into this believing that your ex is going to sleep on it and return to you the next day, please wake up and return to reality. It’s going to take patience.

Breakups aren’t fun and they’re not easy. Depending on why you broke up, you may reunite quickly or you may never get back together at all. However, if you don’t make the effort and do things the right way, you’ll always wonder what might have been.
